Despite any official line taken by the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, this movement - begun in 2002 - is not going to go away. Altogether, there have now been three public ordinations of 19 women worldwide (not counting many who have been ordained to the diaconate).
The official organs calling for reform in Europe, Canada and the United States are aware of other ordinations that have not been public, so as not to draw attention to those who would lose their livelihood if their ordained status was made known.
