Aug. 8--After weeks of delays, work is set to resume at Centennial Park near downtown Tulsa after the lead contractor abandoned the project earlier this summer. The ordeal has caused additional problems because rains eroded unfinished areas and washed large amounts of topsoil into a huge detention pond, which is the centerpiece of the redesigned park. "It's a shame," city Field Engineering Manager Albert Martinez said as he surveyed the damage. Large ruts in the pond's bank have formed, exposing some of the irrigation system.
