With this chip line, which was released on 27 July 2006, Intel decisively reclaims the power desktop crown from competitor AMD. We showed you some preliminary results last month (page 19) using a sample CPU, but this month we bring you official scores and comparisons using CPUs that are ready to ship.
In our PC WorldBench 5 test suite, Intel's Core 2 Duo reference system outscored a matching system equipped with AMD's high-end Athlon 64 FX-62 chip by 17 per cent.
