PHOENIX, Ariz. _ Eight years ago, Cindy and Andy Roberts scraped together the cash for a downpayment on their Arizona dream: a fixer-upper house and barn on an acre in Sunburst Farms East, a community of horse properties in a suburb northeast of metropolitan Phoenix.
``We still haven't fixed up the house, but we have a great barn,'' Cindy Roberts said.
The rest of their savings was spent on horses _ 11 in less than a year.
``Ever since I was a little girl back in Iowa, I always wanted horses,'' Cindy Roberts said.
But, like many Arizona newcomers and other cowboy wannabes, the Robertses knew nothing about how to buy a healthy horse.
