AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Encore Medical Corporation ("Encore") today reported that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") has granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended (the "HSR Act") for Encore's proposed acquisition by affiliates of The Blackstone Group ("Blackstone"); and that two purported class action lawsuits have been filed against Encore and its directors.
