Dear Dr. Dig,

I have read several novels written by Wilbur Smith, including The Seventh Scroll. Does he stick pretty much to the truth about the people he is writing about--Hatshepsut, for example?

Wilbur Smith writes fantastically exciting novels, but they are novels, not history books. Although the basic framework of his writing uses known historical data, he has to elaborate and invent some events and personalities to give his readers a good read. So, enjoy the books, but don't believe absolutely everything that you find in them.
