Aug. 10--Lindsey Brass was making plans for graduating from Yeshiva University Law School in Manhattan in April 2005, when her life changed forever.

Three weeks shy of commencement ceremonies, Brass, 26, suddenly became ill and was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

For more than a year, the North Babylon resident has been in and out of hospitals, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The cancer has now spread to her brain and spine, but she continues to stay upbeat and hopeful.
