On July 4th, 2006 Kumho Tire Tianjin plant started production in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area(TEDA), which is the largest tire production base in the northern region of China with the capacity of 5.25 million pieces/year today. With a total investment of US$210 million, the Tianjin plant totally occupies an area of 93 000 [m.sup.2] to mainly manufacture high-performance radial tires. It is released that Kumho Tire Group of Korea will enlarge its investment to US$370 million and production scale in Tianjin in order to make the tire capacity reach 11 million pieces/year after the expansion in 2007.
