Chris Coste is one never to give up. After 11 seasons in the minor leagues - four in the Northern League - the Fargo native and former Concordia College (Moorhead) catcher finally made his major league debut on May 26 at the age of 33.

After going hitless in his first 12 at-bats with the Philadelphia Phillies, he got his first hit on June 16. It made him one of the oldest players at the time of his first major league hit since 1900. He is the oldest player to get his first major league hit since Minnie Mendoza accomplished the feat for the Twins on May 2, 1970 at the age of 36- 1/2. Since then, Coste has flourished. ...
