Aug. 12--ADELANTO -- Until now it was looking as though Adelanto City Council members would keep their seats for the next two years. But Thursday a lone challenger was certified by the city clerk's office. Charles Valvo, aka "Chuck," has thrown his hat in the ring for the job and says it's time for change. "We need more police," Valvo said, "and we need to do something about our schools. If we don't and you have kids now, they'll be in college before anything gets done. There must be a way to expedite things." Valvo has served for two months on Adelanto's Parks and Recreation Commission and says he is frustrated with the lack of city spending ...
