BOBBY RUSHFORD celebrated his 19th birthday in style at Nairn yesterday as he claimed the scalp of Lloyd Saltman in the fifth round of the Allied Surveyors Scottish Amateur championship.
Stirling University student Rushford, who hails from Grangemouth, eased into the quarterfinals with a 2&1 win over last year's Open Silver Medal winner on an afternoon which saw all three Saltman brothers beaten.
All-square playing the 16th, Lloyd Saltman handed his opponent an advantage after three-putting and, when the Walker Cup player lost a ball with an errant approach into a gorse bush at 17, a place in the last eight was there for Rushford's taking.
