In the wake of unabated killings of political activists and mediamen, former President Fidel V. Ramos yesterday pushed for the immediate creation of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Human Rights Commission.

Ramos, country's representative to the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) of the ASEAN, said there is a need of a Human Rights Commission for the full realization of a just, democratic, and harmonious ASEAN Security Community (ASC).

"In the Charter, there must be an acknowledgment of the need for an ASEAN Human Rights Commission," he said.
