LOS ANGELES -- "Billie Jean," "La Bamba" and "Twist and Shout" never sounded so good. That was the consensus from the parents and teachers who cheered on more than 40 students performing these hits in their first musical recital held recently at the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center.
Thanks to a grant from the Majestic Realty Foundation, the young students have been receiving music lessons from Sound Art, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing contemporary music instruction to at-risk youth.
