"What is contemporary photography?" was the topic of a panel discussion at the August 21st Fall Chapter Day of Yerba Buena Chapter (San Francisco Bay Area, California). The panel of four, Norman Buhn, FPSA, Fran Cox, APSA, Glenn Corlew and Ken Eugene, presented their differing views and the audience was encouraged to participate with questions and comments. At the conclusion of the discussion examples of a variety of contemporary techniques were projected.
The main issues addressed were: 1) Is "contemporary" an appropriate name? 2) Should contemporary photographs be judged in a separate division of competition? 3) The role of electronic imaging and manipulation ...
