The capital's average wage tops [pounds sterling]41,000.

THE average wage in London has now passed [pounds sterling]41,000 a year.

Research by the Office of National Statistics shows the capital's average gross annual salary is now [pounds sterling]41,759 - compared with the national average of [pounds sterling]28,941.

Residents of the City earn the most, with an average salary of almost [pounds sterling]74,000. Tower Hamlets is in second place, with an average of almost [pounds sterling]72,000.
