Darius Sanders came to Eugene in the fall of 2002 to pursue a degree and contribute to the UO football team, and he had very little idea how to go about doing either.
The product of an inner-city school system, Sanders struggled with his studies to the point that he was a partial academic qualifier to the university. He had to burn a year of eligibility while sitting out that first football season in order to adjust to the rigors of college.
