The use of sleep aids has grown dramatically in the past few years as increasing numbers of overwrought Americans turn to medications in an attempt to snare the sandman. Research indicates that since 2000, the number of sleeping pill prescriptions filled has grown by 60 percent, up to a mind-boggling 42 million in 2005.
