The Bush administration doesn't get it about the Geneva Conventions, and its cluelessness is more than just an international embarrassment.
The administration's efforts to exempt certain U.S. personnel from prosecution for violating the international treaties that govern military conduct in wartime constitute a direct threat to any American - military or civilian - captured by an enemy.
