THE Msunduzi Municipality is to set up a working group of councillors, officials and other stakeholders to begin planning for the 2010 World Cup.
A meeting of the council's community services and social equity committee heard that Pietermaritzburg, which would not host any World Cup matches, should market itself as a host city to visiting soccer teams and as a fan park venue.
Zwe Hulane, Strategic Executive Manager of the community services and social equity unit, reported back to the committee on the visit he undertook to Germany with three councillors for this year's World Cup.
