Aug. 17--Odissi dance initially was performed in temples as a religious offering. The Indian classical dance form will be performed Sunday at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Strauss Performing Arts Center as a cultural offering to Omaha residents. Members of the India Association of Nebraska have booked the dance troupe Rudrakshya to perform a program of Odissi dance as part of a fundraiser for the Blind Foundation for India. The India-based troupe's appearance is a major event for the association and a major opportunity for local residents, said Alekah Dash, a past president of the group who is organizing the event. ...
