Aug. 17--The tribal flags of Oklahoma's 38 American Indian tribes recently welcomed members of the Native American Journalism Association in town for its 22nd annual convention, which was headquartered at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Opening ceremonies at the Cherokee Casino and Resort not only recognized the theme "A Celebration of Native American Journalism" but saluted the heritage and culture of this state's rich American Indian tradition.
