Aug. 16--FREDERICK -- Hartz & Co., a local men's clothing manufacturer since 1931, could close down soon, depriving 230 employees of their jobs, according to a union official.
Harold Bock, international vice president and regional director of UNITEHERE, a union representing Hartz workers, said negotiations with Hartz are ongoing, but offered few details.
"We're not trying to be vague, but there are so many things we can't say at this point," he said.
Mr. Bock spoke during a campaign stop at the factory by U.S. Senate candidate Kweisi Mfume.
