Aug. 18--Oh, please, don't even mention Christmas or Hanukkah. It's only August! But " 'tis the season" right now for gathering blossoms and leaves, ferns and weeds to take advantage of their vibrancy and bright colors, says pressed-flower aficionado Mona Gold, who uses what she collects to make personalized holiday gifts such as note cards, placemats, coasters and bookmarks. "People say, 'I can't make these things,' but it's pretty hard to mess up Mother Nature," Gold says. "And this is the time of year to get all the stuff you need."
