Aug. 18--FREEPORT -- Charlie Marello had one goal in mind for his Freeport defense in Thursday night's Kickoff Classic against Holmes County.
Marello, the Bulldogs' defensive coordinator, knew his team was at a bit of a size disadvantage. But, Marello figured, a couple of big, early hits just might swing everything Freeport's way.
Freeport's defense wasted no time in making that big statement. A couple of big backfield sticks by Skylar Martin, Josh Thomas and Anthony Stanley put Holmes County back on its heels, and the host Bulldogs claimed a 17-0 victory.
