Aug. 19--At 8:30 a.m., as the day heated up, a black Mercury Tracer was parked in the shade of a salt cedar. Its front license-plate holder read: "God Is Awesome." The rear end sported two bumper stickers: "Depeche Mode" and "Proud to Be Coptic American."
