Aug. 19--County judge candidate Hoot Crawford got a head start on his rival, but Shane Vann quickly surpassed him in campaign contributions.

Crawford's first filing date was in July 2005. Vann has had two campaign activity reports since joining the race in May. But according to the Bay County Supervisor of Elections Office, Vann is leading in contributions by $57,000.

With two weeks left before the Sept. 5 election, Vann has outspent his opponent by almost $60,000 and left a mere $62.66 in his warchest to carry him the rest of the way.
