Aug. 21--Summer is waning, and fall is on the way.
From the browning of the plants to the cooling of the morning air to the school supplies tumbling off the shelves at Wal-Mart, the signs are everywhere.
Suddenly, those of us who are mere fans of football, and not die-hards, start reading the profiles of players and teams -- ALL the teams -- from start to finish.
We begin to visualize the Friday night lights, to remember our fervent wish that hormone-propelled middle school students be denied admission to high school games or at least strapped to their seats, rather than allowed to run at will behind the grandstand, ...
