Aug. 21--KUWAIT -- Power outages left record numbers of people trapped in lifts across Kuwait. On Saturday and Sunday fire departments received 15 calls from people who were trapped inside lifts. In one incident, five children all under the age of ten were trapped in a Mahboula lift for 45 minutes until firemen freed them. Investigators suspect foul play in a fire that destroyed at least 90 per cent of a Fahaheel house. The fire started on the ground floor and spread quickly throughout the house.
