Aug. 22--My colleague Tom Sheehan weighed in Monday on the statewide political implications of that new report from the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance that the state experienced its smallest net property tax increase in nine years. That sounds like good news, but of course the devil is in the details -- especially if you live in La Crosse. In the report, the Taxpayers Alliance singled out the city of La Crosse as having the highest net tax rate, $26.21 per $1,000 of assessed value, among cities and villages with a population of at least 7,000.
