WASHINGTON--The National Association of Manufacturers has come out strongly against a mandate that employers provide health insurance to employees.
"Rather than trying to wrestle with a massive, government health program, we must focus on passing a sensible, affordable package based on a competitive private health care system that does not include a government mandate on employers," Jerry Jasinowski, president of the Washington-based NAM said at a press briefing.
Mr. Jasinowski noted that advocates of employer mandates argue that mandates are necessary to eliminate cost shifting, reduce overall costs and achieve universal coverage. However, he said, NAM ...
