Aug. 22--Pennsylvania sportsmen will take their first shots of the traditional fall hunting seasons Sept. 1, when Canada geese and mourning doves become legal game.
The early, statewide season for resident Canada geese runs through Sept. 25, with a daily bag limit of eight birds. The first of a three-part dove season, meanwhile, runs through Sept. 30, with a daily limit of 12 birds.
The arrival of goose and dove seasons is eagerly anticipated by Pennsylvania's more than 100,000 migratory bird hunters, many of whom have been looking forward to getting back in the field throughout the long, hot summer.
