The demand on heavy-lift operations has led the Marine Corps to look for ways to sustain its fleet of Sikorsky [UTX] CH-53Es, from pulling retired assets out of the desert in Arizona, to making both the financial and technical commitments to keep current aircraft flying, according to a Marine Corps official.
The Marine Corps is basically short 10 aircraft on its flight lines right now, Col. Paul Croisetiere, program manager for the CH-53, told sister publication Defense Daily in a recent interview.
