Aug. 23--ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Saying goodbye to the Yankees and heading to the West Coast did little to turn the Red Sox in the right direction.
Not even another pep talk by manager Terry Francona, his second in two weeks, could change the team's fortune as the Red Sox began a nine-game, three-city trip with a 4-3 loss to the Angels Tuesday night at Angel Stadium. "It's not a lot of fun right now," Francona said. "It's horrible. But not only do me and the staff believe in them, they believe in themselves as a team.
