Hospitals are seeing increasing numbers of obese patients, requiring larger beds and equipment and special lifting techniques. Now, surgeons are finding that they need to develop new techniques to perform procedures on larger patients.
The July 2006 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons reports that orthopedic surgeons must identify the special needs of these patients.
