Movie director Steven Spielberg catapulted to fame and fortune on the backs of sharks with the 1975 screamathon, "Jaws." But it's been downhill for the sharks ever since.
Spielberg wasn't into a fourpeat. "Jaws II," "Jaws 3," aka "Jaws 3-D," and "Jaws 4: The Revenge" that continued to freak out audiences through the 1980s, were directed by others.
However, No. 1 did better than the rest, so Spielberg might want to think about gaining some oceanographic karma by doing a film on the drastically declining shark population. Suggested title: "A Docu-drama From the Mouths of Sharks."
