It's a problem to make you scratch your head. Or elbow. Or arm. You know that you're itching. But you're not sure why. However, that telltale redness on your skin says, "Rash!"
Although rashes appear on that outer layer of body tissue we call skin, the cause of these irritations can lie deep within the body.
A rash is a change in the appearance of the skin that can take many forms. Often these changes show up in combination. A rash may be a redness over a certain area of the skin. Or it might be red spots scattered all over the body. Sometimes there are blisters or other "bubbles" on the surface of the skin.
