FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ A Palm Beach County circuit judge ruled Wednesday that he will review three years worth of tax returns belonging to tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams to look for evidence that their father Richard Williams worked as their manager.
Such evidence would bolster a case filed by Carol Clarke and Keith Rhodes, their attorneys say. Clarke and Rhodes, principals in the CCKR company, claim the sisters reneged on a commitment to play in a 2001 Battle of the Sexes tournament and are suing for damages.
