TORONTO, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Northern Telecom and Empresa Nacional de Telecommunicaciones (TELECOM), Colombia's government telephone company, have entered into a first-of-a-kind association agreement in Latin America which will expand Colombia's telecommunications infrastructure through the deployment of a totally digital network.  Under the agreement, Northern Telecom will build a network which will enable TELECOM to not only meet local telephone service needs by rapidly deploying lines, but also to expand existing and future services.  The agreement runs nearly nine years with an expected value to Northern Telecom of US$350 million in revenues.
