Aug. 24--Saying goodbye to that favorite dingy shirt or a beloved but discontinued shoe brand can be as tough as bidding adieu to a faithful friend.
And for shoppers loyal to Hecht's, it's time to start preparing the farewell speeches. The department store chain's days in Roanoke are numbered as it nears the hour next month when it will become Macy's.
Mary LeGrande of Roanoke said she's not getting teary-eyed. She has shopped regularly at the department store for years, but she's ready for a change. Her wish list includes a larger selection of trend-setting wear and formal dresses.
