Article: World Bank under criticism for its policy prescription.

Dhaka, Aug. 24 (UNB) - The World Bank's policy prescriptions in last 50 years came under severe criticism here today (Thursday) for 'increasing' the number of least developed countries (LDCs) from 26 to 50.

'The number of LDCs may rise to 100 in next 50 years,' former Commerce Secretary Sohel Ahmed told a roundtable on the consequences of the World Bank prescriptions.

The remark came after World Bank senior economist Zaidi Sattar suggested policy changes to make local business increasingly competitive. He also suggested increasing the productivity.
