ON February 28 a new British cheese will be launched in the north west, and is expected to take 2% of the total 1bn[pounds] market after a full year's national distribution--probably in 1995.
The product. called Churnton represents a major step for Express Foods in its advance down the "yellow brick road" of cheese. The company has a 300m[pounds] turnover of which around 75% is from cheese and by-products. Since a management buy out from GrandMet in 1982, EF has been increasing its presence in the dairy industry and its latest move is an indication of more innovations.
