The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. (EADS) will equip the German armed forces' new Puma armored fighting vehicles with an electronic self- protection system that repels guided anti-tank munition strikes.

The EADS Defense Electronics unit was initially commissioned to equip the first five prototype Puma vehicles with the Multifunctional Self-Protection System (MUSS). The system consists of three elements: warning sensors that detect incoming missiles or laser beams aimed at the target vehicle. The sensors report to the central MUSS computer.
