Aug. 25--Temptation didn't drive Larry Stockard to adapt a collection of devilishly satirical essays by C.S. Lewis to the stage.
"I love Lewis so much with his richness of language and his wit. He's a towering intellect and it's just a real challenge," said the Tulsa actor, who reprises the role of tempter extraordinaire in "Screwtape Proposes a Toast" at Malcolm Deisenroth Performing Arts Center, 2206 S. Lewis Ave., on the Monte Cassino School campus this weekend.
"Screwtape is a retired devil. Lewis wrote this thing as a satire. Everything that Screwtape likes is what we dread," Stockard said.
