Aug. 25--Citing lower gasoline prices, AAA said Thursday that the number of people traveling over the Labor Day weekend should exceed last year's figure.
The travel club estimates that 35.2 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more during the Sept. 1-4 holiday weekend, up 1.2 percent from the 34.8 million who traveled last year.
Nationwide, the price of regular-grade gasoline is averaging $2.90 a gallon, down from $3 a month ago.
In Oklahoma, pump prices are averaging $2.80 a gallon, down 6 cents in one month. Most Tulsa retailers were charging $2.69 Thursday afternoon, down from $2.99 earlier this month.
