A Los Angeles fire captain charged in the grisly killing of a woman found just blocks from his home walked free on bail Thursday after persuading a court official he was not about to flee the country or threaten the public.
Superior Court Commissioner James Bianco said that while Capt. David Jaime Del Toro's prior arrests for battery ``raised concerns,'' Del Toro's bail should not be raised to $5 million from $1 million as prosecutors had requested.
Del Toro, 50, was arrested Aug. 16, the day the nude and bloody body of Jennifer Teresa Flores, 42, of San Gabriel was discovered in the 5200 block of Loleta ...
