Aug. 26--CHICAGO -- Tears were flowing Friday on State Street when employees of Carson Pirie Scott's historic store were told that flagship location would close for good in March.
"The staff was distraught and crying," said one employee from Lake County who asked not to be identified, adding that even the store official breaking the news had become quite emotional.
The surprise announcement came from Bon-Ton Stores Inc., which bought the Carson's chain as part of its $1.1 billion acquisition of Sak's Northern Department Store Group in March, and it sent shock waves through a shopping district still reeling from the news ...
