Boy, 15, faces manslaughter, arson charges

A 15-year-old boy accused of killing his sister and trying to cover it up by setting the family garage on fire is facing manslaughter and first-degree arson charges.

James David Meyer Jr., of Littleton, appeared in juvenile court Friday in Arapahoe County District Court and waived a reading of the charges, according to the district attorney's office.

On June 7, firefighters found the body of Jessica Meyer, 13, at 8065 S. Logan Drive after a fire burned in the garage. The blaze did not appear to be accidental, said investigators.
