Aug. 26--DELAND -- The owner of the GEL Corp. landfill that Orange City officials are trying to shut down spoke out in defense of the facility Friday, saying it isn't a public threat and has broken no city rules.
The testimony Milton Evans Jr. offered during the second day of an emergency hearing described GEL as a growing company that has fallen victim to an aggressive, longstanding campaign involving the city and a group of frustrated residents who want it gone.
