WIRRAL'S first food and drink festival was almost overwhelmed by its own success yesterday as thousands visited the event. Organised by volunteers, the two-day event at Claremont Farm, in Spital, which began yesterday, had the best the region can offer for lovers of fine food and drinks.
There was everything from fine cheeses, locally-brewed beers, meats, cakes and local produce of every kind to cookery demonstrations by renowned chefs from the area's best restaurants and music.
Anne Benson, one of the organisers, said she was amazed at the success after streams of people flooded into the festival site as it opened yesterday ...
