Aug. 27--AMMAN -- Efforts to safeguard workers' rights in the country's Qualified Industrial Zones (QIZ) must be expanded, Minister of Labour Bassem Salem told The Jordan Times on Saturday.
The minister's comments follow a tour of Al Hassan Industrial Estate in Irbid last week with Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, during which they spoke to several workers from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and China and listened to their concerns.
"The government will not tolerate violations of workers' rights in the Qualified Industrial Zones or any other workplace," the premier said during the tour.
